Way to go!
You’ve finished your manuscript! Your achievement is monumental, but … you’re not quite finished.
Imagine publishing your book and holding the first, freshly printed copy in your hands. You crack it open, and there on the first page a glaring typo is staring you in the face! Your heart sinks. Exasperated, you wonder, “How could I have missed that?”
Frantically, you begin paging through the rest of your book, uncovering other errors. The dread of finding so many mistakes robs you of your euphoric joy. Your mind wanders to what your readers will think of you and your book:
- “Will they be turned off by these typos?”
- “Will they even finish reading my book?”
- “Will my book get poor reviews as a result of these oversights?”
- “How can I even sell my book knowing it’s so full of errors?”
Don’t let that happen to you!
As writers, none of us can go it alone. We need the input of others to deliver the very best we have to offer. It doesn’t matter how proficient you are at writing, you still need an editor. You need another pair of eyes going over your work.
And not just anybody has the skill, the knack for editing. Sometimes, it’s not merely a typo that trips up the reader. When you’re in the writing mode, it’s easy to fall into the trap of using the same word over and over again. Overuse of a word can make for dull and shallow reading, but a good editor will catch that and improve your writing.
In fact, one of the things I love about using an editor is what I learn from my mistakes. With an editor, I become a better writer!
How about you?
Let me help you edit and proof your books. You’ll become more proficient at writing and your finished product will be something you can truly be proud of!
